Strandhotellet Blokhus

Panel doors as fire doors, adapted to exterior windows and doors

When Strandhotellet Blokhus opened in 2017, it was with a desire to continue the tradition of Danish beach hotels. The hotel has many facilities and can become an attractive destination for many people all year round. Vahle supplied panel doors for this exclusive beach hotel.

Lawyer couple Marie Louise and Steffen Ebdrup built the hotel with the help of architect Jørgen Ussing from Brix Nordberg Arkitektur (formerly UBN Arkitekter), who designed an original seaside hotel. Vahle developed the special panel doors in collaboration with the architect. The French doors on the ground floor, reception and restaurant are beautifully coordinated with the exterior windows and doors. The solution gives hotel guests a sense of tranquility and quality, and the look of the panel doors matches the windows at the hotel.

The heavy door is a positive experience

Hotel Director, Anders Thorsager, says that

“Guests comment on the doors during their visit. They say it’s a pleasure to experience a massive, heavy door. The door reminds them of times gone by and makes sure there is no noise in the rooms”.

Panel doors with a focus on craftsmanship

One of the two owners, Marie Louise Ebdrup, explains that

“Quality, coziness and solidity have been key words in the creation of the hotel. We’ve chosen old, proud craftsmanship traditions along with quality materials. That’s why we were in no doubt that we wanted Vahle panel doors because they meet modern requirements and are made so fantastically that you can’t tell it’s a fire or acoustic door”.
